William Powhida

En la obra que abre su blog del 10-01-11, Powhida bautiza la obra con una frase “I hate the art world and the art world hates me (or something like that)”… probablemente sea esta el mensaje gestacional de casi todas las obras de este artista, al igual que esta postura se viene sosteniendo desde la irrupción de Duchamp.

Las obras adquieren un aspecto narrativo, algunas se parecen a un manifiesto, a un libro deshojado, a cartas y esquelas enviadas o recibidas, a carteles pegados intimamente en una pared, otras adquieren aspectos rituales o de conjuro, todas juegan con el aspecto simbólico y sígnico del lenguaje escrito y dibujado. El artista además de crear, dice cosas, manifiesta sus opiniones, exhibe su manera de ejercer su vida y su arte.

William Powhida nació en Nueva York y vive en Brushwick (EEUU). Estudió pintura en la Universidad de Siracusa, se recibió con honores. Exbibe sus obras de modo internacional.

In the play that opens your blog 01.11.1910, baptized Powhida work with a phrase “I hate the art world and the art world hates me (or something like that)” … this is probably the most gestational message works of this artist, as this position has been holding since the outbreak of Duchamp.

The works take on a narrative, some are like a manifesto, a book bare, to letters and obituaries are sent or received, intimately posters plastered on a wall, other aspects acquire ritual or spell, all play with the symbolic aspect sign-language written and drawn. The artist also created, says things, expresses his opinions, shows his way of exerting his life and art.

Powhida William was born in New York and lives in Brushwick (USA). He studied painting at Syracuse University, graduated with honors. Exbibe their international mode works.

Furin



Furin es una instalación interactiva montada en un cielorraso realizado mediante una grilla estructural de triángulos equiláteros, de la que cuelgan 280 lámparas de vidrio de diferentes alturas representando la curvatura de una onda, que fueron especialmente creadas para este dispositivo y que se activan en sonido y luz con la acción del viento y las acciones y proximidad de las personas. Estas luminarias tienen un comportamiento asociado o en red, donde el comportamiento de una, influencia a las adyacentes, similar a las ondulaciones que se generan en el agua a partir de un impacto. El proyecto fue realizado por OKAMURA Design Space 2009 por Toyo Ito Associates, Architects y Takram Design Engineering.

Furin is an interactive installation mounted on a ceiling made by a structural grid of equilateral triangles, of the 280 hanging glass lamps of different heights representing the curvature of a wave, which was specially created for this device and that are activated in sound and light with wind action and the actions and close proximity to humans. These lamps have a partner or network behavior, where the behavior of one influences the adjacent ones, like the ripples in the water are generated from an impact. The project was conducted by OKAMURA Design Space 2009 by Toyo Ito Associates, Architects and Engineering Design Takram.

Pixelismo / PixelPusher

Pixel Pusher es un nombre irónico que reciben aquellos diseñadores que trabajan el diseño gráfico bajo el soporte de imágenes producidas por computadora, en web, juegos, etc. También denomina a aquellos que producen arte conceptual bajo el mismo entorno, valiéndose de recursos del film, efectos especiales, arte generativo, software creado con esos fines, code art, etc.

Pixel Pusher is an ironic name given to those designers working in graphic designsupport for images produced by computer, web, games and more. Also referred to asthose that produce conceptual art under the same environment, using resources from the film, special effects, generative art, software created for these purposes, code art,etc.

Arte algorítmico

Uncontrol es un proyecto que recopila una serie de experimentos de lenguaje de programación con salida visual o gráfica, unidos dentro de una denominación común como arte algorítmico, ya que estas experiencias se focalizan en indagar la producción de formas dinámicas, texturas y comportamientos, utilizando formas simples como líneas, círculos, cuadrados, curvas, etc. a las que se les añade la posibilidad de la  interacción con un usuario que puede alterar los parámetros y variables de generación con el fin de explorar las infinitas posibilidades de cada uno de estos sistemas.

Uncontrol es una iniciativa de su realizador Manny Tan quién también brinda sus proyectos en código open source.

Código abierto: Code is poetry

Gracias a Matt Mullenweg hoy muchos de nosotros tenemos un weblog de WordPress, la empresa que él mismo gestó y desarrolló con el slogan “Code is poetry”.

Matt asimila el lenguaje de código al de la poesía y aún más al de la música.

En este post transcribo un concepto que leí en una entrevista que le hizo el Diario La Nación del 20-01-08:

“(…) ¿Por qué defendes con tanta pasión el software libre?

Por una cuestión moral principalmente. Me gusta comparar el software con la música. Cuando haces música te basas en siglos de desarrollos, innovación y conocimiento de músicos anteriores, y todo eso es algo abierto, que podes usar libremente. (…) ”

Cuando leí esta respuesta me quedé pensando en los temas que pueden desprenderse de este concepto.

Cuántas cabezas enseñadas desde la estanqueidad conceptual deberán revisar la manera de enseñar y de entender a sus estudiantes insertos hoy en una sociedad de redes y múltiple en permanente cambio y movilidad…; con qué natural y generosa libertad se puede disponer y hacer uso del conocimiento, es un verdadero llamado a la inteligencia y a la curiosidad sin ningún temor a la malentendida competencia y al regateo de la información de los ineptos, sino a una competencia que se entiende desde el crecimiento y la interrelación…; cuántas arcaicas y estúpidas clasificaciones se caen de la estantería escolar, secundaria y universitaria cuando de pronto “todo entra en relación”… es hora, desde hace varias décadas, de juntar aquellos preconceptos que dividen “lógicos de creativos” y hacer algo bueno: tirarlos por la ventana!

Thanks to Matt Mullenweg today many of us have a WordPress weblog, the company that he conceived and developed with the slogan “Code is poetry.”

Matt treats the source language of poetry and even more music.

In this post I will discuss a concept I read in an interview that made the newspaper La Nación of 01/08/1920:

“(…) Why so passionately defend free software?

As a matter primarily moral. I like to compare the software with the music. When do you base your music on centuries of development, innovation and knowledge of previous musicians, and all that is somewhat open, that you can use freely. (…) “

When I read this response I was thinking about the issues that may flow from that concept.

Many heads taught from the conceptual tightness should review how to teach and students to understand their inserts today in a society of multiple networks and ever-changing and mobility …; natural and generous with what freedom was available and make use of knowledge is a real appeal to the intelligence and curiosity without any fear of competition and bargaining misunderstood the information of the unfit, but competition is understood from the growth and inter …, how many ratings are archaic and stupid fall school shelving, secondary and university, when suddenly “everything goes on” … time, for several decades, to gather those prejudices that divide “creative logic” and do something good, throw out the window!
